Monday, 28 February, marked the end of the second stage of the Population and Housing Census where data were collected from people living at the addresses included in the mandatory sample. The survey component of the census has ended, but data collection from registers continues until July, to ensure that all residents of Estonia are counted.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 110,000 foreign and 120,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in February 2025. “The number of foreign tourists increased by 3% year on year and reached the level of February 2019. According to Statistics Estonia, in April, Estonian accommodation establishments served 59,000 tourists, which is over three times more than in April last year. The numbers of foreign and domestic tourists both increased.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 2.7% compared with the same period of 2022. The GDP at current prices was 9.9 billion euros in the fourth quarter. In 2023 as a whole, Estonia’s GDP decreased by 3% and amounted to 37.7 billion euros at current prices.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2022, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 1.4% compared to January 2021. Production increased by 1.8% in manufacturing and by 3.9% in mining. Energy production was almost at the same level and grew by just 0.2% year on year.
