According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2023, the population of Estonia was 1,357,739, which is 2% (25,943 persons) more than at the same time a year ago. In 2022, there were 11,588 births and 17,245 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 42,022 persons immigrated to Estonia and 10,422 persons emigrated from Estonia. 75% (31,594) of the immigrants were from Ukraine.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2011 compared to the same month of the previous year, exports grew by 53% and imports by 44% at current prices. Due to a faster growth in exports compared to imports, also the foreign trade deficit decreased.

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that a smart TV is the most common Internet of Things device in Estonia, used by 57% of internet users. “The second most popular group of devices includes smart watches, wireless headsets and GPS devices, which are used by over a half (53%) of the respondents. Internet-connected home audio systems and smart speakers are also fairly common (28%),” added Saagpakk. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, exports from Estonia amounted to 11.6 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 13.1 billion euros at current prices. Trade has been declining for the last three years but the biggest fall occurred in 2015.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2021, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 2.8% year on year. Production increased by 11.8% in energy production and by 3.5% in manufacturing, but decreased by 39.7% in mining.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2014, exports of goods decreased by 1% and imports by 3% at current prices compared to November 2013. The decrease in exports was mostly influenced by the reduced exports of agricultural products and food preparations and mechanical appliances to Russia.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2020, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 2% compared to November 2019. In the three main industrial sectors, production fell by 1% in manufacturing and by 12% in energy production, but grew by 2% in mining.
