According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2021, there were 9,443 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This means a 10% increase year on year. More than 7,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

In 2022, trade of goods increased, trade deficit was 3.3 billion euros

According to Statistics Estonia, exports of goods increased by 17% and imports by 23% in 2022 compared with 2021. In December 2022, both exports as well as imports remained at the level of 2021.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,005 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 6.14 euros. Compared to 2013, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 5.9% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 7.2%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2020, the Dwelling Price Index decreased by 5.8% compared to the first quarter, but increased by 4% compared to the second quarter of 2019.

Evelin Puura, the foreign trade statistics team lead at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that Estonia's exports were significantly affected by the re-exports of previously imported goods which increased by 30% year on year. “The rise in re-exports was mainly due to transport equipment,” Puura added. Exports of goods of Estonian origin grew by 4% compared with February last year, accounting for 65% of total exports. The rise was mainly due to the increased exports of processed fuels and shale oil as well as measuring instruments. Electrical equipment was the top commodity exported in February

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the upward trend in foreign trade, which started in the second half of 2024, continued in January this year. “In intra-EU trade, exports were up by 11% and imports by 9%. In extra-EU trade, the rise was 19% in exports and as much as 57% in imports. According to Statistics Estonia, in February, the producer price index of industrial output fell by 0.7% compared to January 2020 and by 2.6% compared to February 2019.
