The decline in industrial production continued in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with July last year. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 16.9% in mining and by 16.3% in electricity production but decreased by 7.8% in manufacturing.

Sales of pesticides down for the second year in a row

According to Statistics Estonia, 713.5 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia in 2023, which is a tenth less than in 2022 and less than in the four previous years as well. The majority of pesticides sold were again herbicides.

Last year, the growth of the average monthly gross income continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2016, the average monthly gross income per employee was 1,073 euros. The growth of gross income continued at the same rate as in previous years (6%), however, the number of people receiving income started to decrease for the first time since the years of the economic crisis.

The highest numbers of job vacancies in education, trade and manufacturing

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2021, there were 11,518 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This number increased by a third year on year. More than 8,500 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

Area
A household usually consists of people who live in a common dwelling, share a budget or food, or both. Households change over time: when a child grows up and becomes financially independent, he or she leaves one household and starts a new one. The same dwelling can also accommodate several households. A person living alone forms a single-person household. Thus, the number of households does not equal the number of families. How many households are there in Estonia and what characterises them? People are increasingly living alone or in smaller households. The statistics help to understand the
