According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in March was –0.7% compared to February and 0.9% compared to March of the previous year. The last time that the year-on-year change of the consumer price index was below 0.9% was in October 2016, when it was 0.6%.

Coronavirus and the ensuing economic crisis have affected the labour market also in Estonia. Since April, Statistics Estonia is publishing short-term statistics on changes in the labour market. Interactive charts give an overview of the current labour market situation on the basis of weekly data from the employment register. The charts show weekly changes in the number of employment relationships: how many were started, suspended or terminated. The Statistical Council, formed by the order of the Government of the Republic, convened on 26 November. At the meeting, the results of the second trial census of the population and housing census were presented. The Statistical Council supports the decision of Statistics Estonia to combine the register-based census with sample surveys.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July, the consumer price index increased by 0.3% compared with June and by 3.4% compared with July 2023. Goods were 1.7% and services 6.3% more expensive than in July last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, 250,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in April 2023, which is 6% more than in April last year. The number of foreign tourists increased, but there were fewer domestic tourists.
