According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods decreased by 14% and imports by 11% compared with June 2023. Exports of goods amounted to nearly 1.4 billion and imports to more than 1.6 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 268 million euros, which is 20 million more than in June last year.

Jane Leppmets, a foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that growth in foreign trade in services was most affected by travel services and other business services. “In the third quarter, exports of services to EU countries increased by 8% and imports from EU countries by 4%. Extra-EU exports of services were also up by 8%, however, extra-EU imports were down by 4%. The latter was mainly affected by a decline in purchases of services from the United States,” Leppmets pointed out. According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2015, the production of industrial enterprises decreased 3% compared to June of the previous year. Production decreased in manufacturing and energy production but increased in mining.

According to Statistics Estonia, in Viimsi rural municipality and Saue city, only 6% of residents lived in relative poverty in 2011, while the share of the relatively poor was over 40% in Kallaste city and in Alatskivi and Peipsiääre rural municipalities. Among local governments, at-risk-of-poverty rate was the highest in remote areas near the border and the lowest in the local governments of Harju county.
