Main events in the history of Estonian statistics 2024 Statistics Estonia focuses on reducing the administrative burden to save time for respondents. As a result , Estonia becomes the first EU country where enterprises engaged in foreign trade no longer have to report arrivals data, which decreases the reporting burden by a third, on average. Producer price index decreased in August

In August 2019, the producer price index of industrial output fell by 0.2% compared to July 2019 and by 1.3% compared to August 2018. The export and import price indices fell compared to both July 2019 and August 2018.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March, the consumer price index increased by 0.4% compared with February 2024 and by 3.9% compared with March 2023. Goods were 1.9% and services 7.1% more expensive than in March last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2024, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 898 million euros. Compared with May 2023, the volume of retail trade turnover fell by 4%.

The turnover volume declined in stores selling manufactured goods and grocery stores, as well as in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel. Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that taking into account the data for August, the turnover volume of retail trade enterprises has been falling for 24 months in a row now. “The drop in the volume of retail trade turnover in August was mainly due to stores selling manufactured goods and grocery stores, as the turnover volume of each decreased by 4% year on year,” Pihlak added. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, life expectancy at birth was 74.4 years for males and 82.8 years for females. Life expectancy has increased for both sexes, slightly more for males. Men are expected to live disability-free for 54.1 and women for 57.6 years.
