According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2017, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,242 euros, and increased 6.8% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2016. The year-over-year growth in wages and salaries, which had decelerated for four successive quarters, accelerated again and was 1.1 percentage points faster than in the previous quarter.

Today, on 29 December, Professor Emeritus Ene-Margit Tiit, the Head of Methodology of the 2011 Population and Housing Census, presents her latest book “Eesti rahvastik. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the gross hourly earnings of female employees were 14.9% smaller than the earnings of male employees. The gender pay gap decreased by 0.7 percentage points year on year.
