Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the volume of production in manufacturing decreased in 2024 as a whole but there were signs of improvement at the end of the year. “Manufacturing output started to grow in October and November but fell a little in December,” explained Bunder. According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.7% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month a year earlier. Production increased by 19.3% in mining and by 2.6% in electricity production but decreased by 7% in manufacturing.

According to Statistics Estonia's data, Estonian power plants produced 5,686 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity and 4,323 GWh of heat in 2023. Compared with 2022, electricity production was down by 37% and heat production by 15%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with July last year. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 16.9% in mining and by 16.3% in electricity production but decreased by 7.8% in manufacturing.
