According to Statistics Estonia, 21.7% of the Estonian population lived at risk of poverty and 2.4% lived in absolute poverty in 2018. Compared to 2017, the share of people at risk of poverty decreased by 0.2 percentage points and the share of those living in absolute poverty by 0.3 percentage points.

Statistics Estonia transforming into a national data agency in the coming years

The government approved the development plan of Statistics Estonia for 2018–2022 at its cabinet meeting today. The greatest change in the new strategy period is transforming Statistics Estonia into a national data agency – an office that offers data from different sources, support when using data as well as classic official statistics.

The construction price index increased in 2011

According to Statistics Estonia, the construction price index increased 3.1% in 2011 compared to the average of 2010, of which labour force 7.6%, building machines 2.0% and building materials 1.5%.

Secure data interoperability Statistics Estonia received 1,099,300 euros via the innovation fund for the project “Secure data interoperability between sectors”. According to Statistics Estonia, compared to the previous quarter, the construction price index took a downturn in the 1st quarter of 2014 after three years of growth. The percentage change of the construction price index in the 1st quarter of 2014 was –0.1% compared to the 4th quarter of 2013 and 2.3% compared to the 1st quarter of 2013.

Estonia wins 3rd prize in the European Big Data Hackathon

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP), which shows how the Estonian economy is doing, grew by 8.6% compared to the same period of 2020. The GDP at current prices was 8.7 billion euros.

One million people enumerated

The personal questionnaires of the 2011 Population and Housing Census have now been completed on more than one million permanent residents of Estonia. In the first week of the interview census, enumerators interviewed more than 100,000 people.
