According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2021, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 79% while imports of services fell by 23% year on year. In 2021 as a whole, exports of services grew by 47% and imports by 28% compared to 2020.

Foreign trade statistics are on the brink of changes. Our goal is to start reducing the administrative burden. In order to do that, we need to first introduce some changes in our existing foreign trade questionnaire INTRASTAT (dispatches and arrivals). According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the gross hourly earnings of female employees were 13.1% smaller than the earnings of male employees. The gender pay gap decreased by 4.6 percentage points year on year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2022, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 35% and imports by 31% compared to March 2021. Compared to the first quarter of last year, exports grew by 30% and imports by 34%. In March and in the first quarter as a whole, trade was primarily boosted by the increased exports and imports of mineral fuels and electricity.

The number of job vacancies was still over 10,000

According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2021, there were 11,103 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 28% more than in the same quarter of 2020. About 7,500 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods decreased by 6% and imports by 13% compared with May 2023. Exports of goods amounted to nearly €1.6 billion and imports to almost €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €144 million, which is €170 million less than in May last year.
