The goal of data-based reporting is to provide enterprises and other organisations with the option of automatic data submission – directly from accounting software. The aim of experimental statistics is to seek new ways of producing statistics that would allow users quick and convenient access to relevant and necessary information.

To produce experimental statistics we use:

  • data linking and combining;
  • new data sources (e.g. electricity consumption data of Elering, data of mobile network operators);
  • new methods (e.g. web scraping, machine learning);
  • modern visualisation solutions (e.g. R Shiny and Flourish).

The output of experimental statistics may diverge from the traditional requirements of official statistics such as harmonisation, coverage

Construction volume increased by 17%, boosted mainly by the domestic market

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2021, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad increased by 17% year on year. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the growth in construction volume was 18%.

243 mother tongues spoken in Estonia

Census results show that 243 different mother tongues are spoken in Estonia. Estonian is spoken as a mother tongue by 67% and as a foreign language by 17% of the population. Therefore, a total of 84% of the population speaks Estonian.
