Briefing session on the updated Intrastat questionnaire

Foreign trade statistics are on the brink of changes. Our goal is to start reducing the administrative burden. In order to do that, we need to first introduce some changes in our existing foreign trade questionnaire INTRASTAT (dispatches and arrivals). These changes will allow the transition to SIMSTAT, i.e. single flow collection, starting from 2025. The briefing session gives information about filling in the updated questionnaire as well as creating related IT solutions. On 13–15 March in Brussels, the Estonian team won the 3rd prize, after Croatia and France, in the "European Big Data Hackathon", organised by the European Commission statistical office Eurostat.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served over 3 million tourists, which is 52% more than in 2021. There was a rise in the number of both foreign* and domestic tourists.

According to Statistics Estonia, 1.25 million tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in the three summer months – June, July, August – of 2023, up by 1% from a year earlier but down by 12% from the summer of 2019. Compared with last summer, there were more foreign and fewer domestic tourists in accommodation establishments.

According to Statistics Estonia, nearly 226,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in March 2023, which is 18% more than in March last year. The average cost of an overnight stay increased by 15% year on year.

Sales of crayfish and fish roe grew the most last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, fish farming enterprises sold 1,039 tonnes of commercial fish and crayfish, for a total of more than 4 million euros. The biggest increase occurred for fish roe placed on the market, with record sales registered.
