Immigration to Estonia increased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, 4,098 persons immigrated to Estonia and 6,740 persons emigrated from Estonia in 2013. There were 1,459 immigrants more than in 2012.
Most of emigrants from Estonia still go to Finland

According to the data of 2012, in Estonian emigration the movement takes place towards the countries offering bigger economic welfare. People emigrate from Estonia mainly to Finland and the United Kingdom and people immigrate to Estonia from Finland and Russia.

On 20–21 April a conference of the Estonian Statistical Society “Kas Eesti rahvas jääb püsima?” (Will Estonian Population Survive?) will be held at the National Library of Estonia in Tallinn. During these two days the focus will be on the questions related to the survival of Estonian population.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011, the number of passengers carried by Estonian transport enterprises continued to decrease for the fifth year in succession. The decline in the number of passengers carried was influenced the most by reduction of passengers in urban transport. Transport enterprises carried more goods compared to the previous year.
