The number of job vacancies fell by a quarter in a year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2020, there were 8,613 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. Compared to the first quarter of 2019, the number decreased by 25%.

Last year, 59,000 amateurs sang in choirs and danced in folk groups

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, there were 82,500 amateurs of folk culture in Estonia. 59,000 of them sang in choirs or danced in folk dance groups. The most folk culture amateurs per thousand inhabitants were in Võru county and the least in Ida-Viru county.

At-risk-of-poverty rate is highest among the elderly, while among families with children it is highest for single parents (corrected on 09.12.2022)

According to Statistics Estonia, 22.8% of Estonia’s population lived at risk of poverty and 1.4% in absolute poverty in 2021. Compared with 2020, the share of people living at risk of poverty rose 2.2% and the share of people living in absolute poverty fell 0.8%.

The volume of industrial production decreased by 5% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, the total production of industrial enterprises in 2020 was 5% smaller than the year before. Production decreased in all three main industrial sectors: by 19% in energy production, by 13% in mining and by 4% in manufacturing.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) fell by 0.7% compared to the 1st quarter of 2019. The GDP at current prices was 6.5 billion euros.

Crop farming survey

Area
What kind of survey is it? The crop farming survey provides data about areas under cultivation and harvested areas of agricultural crops, production and yield, fertilisers, organic farming, liming, seed use, and autumn sowings of winter crops. A large part of the data are obtained from registers (for example, data on areas under cultivation received from the Agricultural Registers and Information Board and data on units that fill in the electronic field book in e-ARIB), and missing data are collected from respondents with the survey. Foreign trade declined by a fifth in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in August, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.5 billion and imports to 1.8 billion euros. Compared with the same month in 2022, exports of goods decreased by 22% and imports by 19% at current prices. The trade deficit in in August was 293 million euros, which is 7 million euros less than a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia grew 4.2% in the 3rd quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year. The Estonian GDP was 7 billion euros at current prices.
