  3. Industrial production down by 1.1% in October
Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that manufacturing production in October decreased for the second month in a row. “Although the volume of industrial production was up in half of the manufacturing activities in October, the overall volume of the sector declined, mainly due to a decrease in the production of computers and electronic products (3.1%), food products (1.9%), and electrical equipment (6.8%). A slight drop was also seen in the manufacture of wood, at 0.8%,” Bunder added. “The decline in the production of computers and electronic products is primarily due to

eSTAT is replaced by a new self-service environment Starting from 2025, data can be submitted to Statistics Estonia in the new self-service environment at uuringud.stat.ee . To make data submission as easy and convenient as possible, all questionnaires will be updated in the new environment. Currently, only some of the questionnaires have been updated, however, the goal is to update all enterprise questionnaires by the end of 2026. The self-service environment offers users of Statistics Estonia's e-services a number of new options that were not available in eSTAT. More user-friendly features

  3. Volume of industrial production up by 0.9% in May
Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in April, the volume of industrial production increased in most major manufacturing activities, while in May output rose in just a few of the main industries. “Looking at the larger industries, output increased marginally, by less than one percent, in the manufacture of wood (0.6%) and food products (0.3%). Among the major activities, output decreased in the manufacture of fabricated metal products (5.4%), electrical equipment (3.9%) and computers and electronic products (12.6%),” noted Bunder. In May this year, 65.5% of the total

  3. Statistics Estonia uses a new methodology to calculate the consumer price index
“People’s consumption habits change, technology evolves, and more and more data become available. Statistics Estonia must keep up with these developments, and we must continuously update our methodologies,” explained Urmet Lee, the Director General of Statistics Estonia. The methodological changes introduced in January concern food products and electricity. “Good cooperation with electricity providers and retail chains now allows us to calculate the consumer price index in Estonia more accurately than ever before. It means that a quarter of the data for the consumer basket are now obtained

  3. Estonia’s population decreased by 7,041 according to preliminary data
Kadri Rootalu, the service manager of population and education statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the demographic trends of recent years continued in 2025. “Last year, over 6,000 more people died than were born. Emigration remained at the level of 2024, but immigration decreased. Net migration was negative for the first time since 2014. The population of Estonia declined by 7,041 overall,” explained Rootalu. The number of births was under 10,000 for the second time in history 9,092 children were born in 2025, which is 6% less than in 2024. “Compared with 2024, there were 600 fewer

  3. Average wages and salaries were €2,075 in the third quarter
“In the third quarter of this year, the percentage change in wages and salaries remained at the same level as in the previous quarter. However, in the third quarter of 2024, wage growth was 8.1%, which means that the year-on-year growth in wages and salaries slowed down,” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia. She added that, in the second quarter, employees usually receive more bonuses (such as holiday pay), which is why the average wages and salaries in the third quarter are typically lower than in the second quarter. In the third quarter, the average monthly gross wages and

  3. Estonia’s environmental protection expenditure rose to €821 million
Environmental protection expenditure accounts reflect the measures and expenditures targeted at the prevention, reduction or elimination of pollution. National expenditure on environmental protection is calculated as a sum of current expenditure and capital expenditure (investments) on environmental protection activities, after deducting transfers from the rest of the world. Grete Luukas, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, stated that nearly half of the environmental protection expenditure in 2023 was made up of expenditures on waste management (€404 million). “ A large contribution to

  3. eSTAT is replaced by a new self-service environment
Statistics Estonia highly values the contribution Estonian people and enterprises make to the production of official statistics. This will enable the creation of essential knowledge about indicators that are important for the country, ranging from GDP to the at-risk-of-poverty rate. We therefore hope that the new self-service environment will make data submission faster and more convenient. The self-service environment offers users of Statistics Estonia's e-services a number of new options that were not available in eSTAT. More user-friendly features will be added over time. As at the end of last year, 232,400 cattle, 283,600 pigs, 49,300 sheep and goats, and 2.4 million poultry were kept in Estonia. The number of cattle fell to an all-time low. Ege Kirs, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that meat production in Estonia was up in 2024 due to the 6% increase in pork production. “However, poultry production decreased by 3% and beef production by 5%. Sheep and goat meat production in Estonia remained very low at 400 tonnes. 42,100 tonnes of pork, 22,200 tonnes of poultry meat, and 11,800 tonnes of beef were produced,” Kirs added. The imports of meat
