Up to 3 November one can apply for the enumerator’s post at the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year. Most candidates are expected to Tallinn and Harju county, to the neighbourhood of Suure-Jaani and to the rural municipalities near Lake Peipus.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries grew 26%, of which 28% on domestic market.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries grew 34%, of which 29% on domestic market.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2009 the exports at current prices decreased 24% and imports 33% compared to 2008. Exports to Finland and Sweden decreased most by the trade value. In the last months of the year the decline in the trade slowed down.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008 the growth of wages and salaries slowed down but the increased pensions and governmental benefits helped to maintain incomes. Therefore the relative poverty remained on the level of 2007.

Statistics Estonia has announced a competition for engaging 15 district heads of the Census districts for the 2011 Population and Housing Census, which will start at the end of the year. District centres in nine cities all over Estonia will commence work in August; the deadline of applying for the post is 5 June.

According to Statistics Estonia in 2010, 17.5% of the Estonian population lived in relative poverty. The percentage of people living in relative poverty increased 1.7 percentage points compared to the previous year. In 2009 the at-risk-of-poverty rate was 15.8%.
