From today until 22 January 2022, the e-questionnaire for the Population and Housing Census is open. Everyone living in Estonia is welcome to respond to the e-census. Only people who are included in the survey sample may expect a phone call or visit from a census taker if they have not filled in the e-questionnaire.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, life expectancy at birth was 77.2 years in Estonia. Male life expectancy was 72.8 years and female life expectancy was 81.4 years. Life expectancy has decreased for both men and women. Men can expect to live disability-free for 54.9 years and women for 58 years.

Swen Peterson, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that herbicides are still the most sold type of plant protection products. “In 2024, sales of herbicides totalled 597 tonnes, which is over 80 tonnes more than in 2023. Sales of insecticides increased by a fourth, while sales of fungicides decreased by a tenth compared with 2023,” explained Peterson. According to Statistics Estonia, 22.8% of Estonia’s population lived at risk of poverty and 1.4% in absolute poverty in 2021. Compared with 2020, the share of people living at risk of poverty rose 2.2% and the share of people living in absolute poverty fell 0.8%.
