GDP flash estimate: recession slowed down in Q2

According to Statistics Estonia's preliminary estimate, the decline in the gross domestic product (GDP) slowed down in the second quarter of 2024. GDP fell by approximately 1.7% compared with the second quarter of 2023.

The seasonally and working-day adjusted GDP remained virtually unchanged from the first quarter of 2024 with an increase of just 0.2%.

According to Eurostat, the EU economy also picked up slightly in the second quarter,  as the GDP of the EU grew by 0.7%.

Statistics Estonia will publish more detailed GDP data for the second quarter of 2024 on 30 August.
