Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of accommodated tourists was still 6% lower than in September 2019. The number of foreign tourists in accommodation establishments was down by 20%, whereas the number of domestic tourists was 19% higher than in September of the record year before the crisis. “153,000 foreign and 125,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in September 2024. Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in July, exports of goods grew primarily due to re-exports, i.e., the re-exports of previously imported goods increased by 26%. “The re-exports of mineral products (incl. natural gas) and transport equipment rose the most,” the analyst added. “In 1994, the life expectancy of Estonian residents was 66.5 years, whereas by 2024 it had increased by 13 years and reached 79.5 years. In both Latvia and Lithuania, life expectancy has increased by about nine years in the same 30-year period. Life expectancy is currently 77.6 years in Lithuania and 75.6 years in Latvia,” explained Eveli Voolens, the social statistics team lead at Statistics Estonia.
