According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 compared to the previous year, the electricity production from renewable sources has increased by 13%. During the last five years the share of electricity generated from oil shale has decreased by nearly a tenth. At the same time the electricity production from renewable sources has increased eight times.

According to Statistics Estonia, exports of goods increased by 17% and imports by 23% in 2022 compared with 2021. In December 2022, both exports as well as imports remained at the level of 2021.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 133,800 foreign and 117,500 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in April 2025. The number of foreign tourists has shown considerable growth over the last year but has not yet fully recovered from the slump a few years ago. “Compared with April 2024, the number of foreign tourists increased by 16%. It is still lower than in April 2019, the last peak for this month,” said Laurmaa. “The number of accommodated domestic tourists remained similar to April last year but it was actually 11% bigger than in April 2019,” she noted

The corrections are marked in red. “In June, 214,600 foreign and 176,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia. As in June last year, we had more foreign tourists (55%) than domestic tourists (45%),” said Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia. In 2025, the number of foreign tourists has increased in most months. “Compared with June last year, there were now 5% more foreign tourists staying in accommodation establishments, but their numbers have not yet fully recovered from the pandemic slump,” the analyst noted. “There were 2% fewer domestic tourists in accommodation

According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2012 compared to December of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 5% at constant prices. In 2012 compared to 2011, the retail sales increased 7%.
