This week, 6–10 September 2021, external experts will be visiting the Tallinn office of Statistics Estonia. The experts will evaluate the production of official statistics in Estonia against the quality requirements of Eurostat (the statistical office of the European Union) and against the European Statistics Code of Practice.

Main events in the history of Estonian statistics 2024 Statistics Estonia focuses on reducing the administrative burden to save time for respondents. As a result , Estonia becomes the first EU country where enterprises engaged in foreign trade no longer have to report arrivals data, which decreases the reporting burden by a third, on average. According to Statistics Estonia, more than 222,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in November 2023, which is 1% less than in November 2022 and 11% less than in October 2023. Year on year, accommodation establishments hosted fewer foreign as well as domestic tourists.

In the third quarter, Estonian economy grew by 8.6%

According to Statistics Estonia, during the last decade on an average four full-length feature films per year were made in Estonia, but in 2009 the corresponding number was seven. This is also the record after the restoration of independence in Estonia.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2017, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,221 euros; compared to 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 6.5%. The annual average monthly gross wages and salaries increased in almost all economic activities. The average monthly gross wages and salaries were the highest in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2023, Estonia’s exports and imports of goods decreased by 15% and 12%, respectively, compared with March 2022. In the first quarter as a whole, both exports and imports of goods fell by 8%.

Today, Statistics Estonia is launching the largest and most comprehensive relationship survey in Estonia so far, titled “Safe relationships within family, at work and outside work”. The purpose of the survey is to get an overview of well-being and safety in relationships. An invitation to participate in the survey is sent by post to over 16,000 people.
