Estonian people visited museums nearly 2.5 million times last year. A total of 157 museums were open for visitors in 2023. There were 95 expositions, 4 science centres, and 924 exhibitions.

Secure data interoperability between sectors

The aim of the innovation fund project is to create a framework for data interoperability between the private and public sectors. During the project, Statistics Estonia will analyse how to implement privacy enhancing technologies that would allow secure and much wider re-use of data between the private and public sectors.

“Looking at the wage change trend, wage growth is still slower now than in 2023,” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia. Average wages in seven groups of economic activities are higher than the national average Saagpakk stated that the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the third quarter of 2024 were the highest in information and communication (€3,506), financial and insurance activities (€3,068), and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (€2,540). The lowest average monthly gross wages and salaries were seen in accommodation and food service (€1,285)

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1% compared with the same period of 2023. The GDP at current prices amounted to €9.8 billion.

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that a smart TV is the most common Internet of Things device in Estonia, used by 57% of internet users. “The second most popular group of devices includes smart watches, wireless headsets and GPS devices, which are used by over a half (53%) of the respondents. According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2023, there were 11,079 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 17% less than in the same quarter last year. Over 6,000 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.
