According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2021, there were 11,518 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This number increased by a third year on year. More than 8,500 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that there was a marked decline in trade in goods in the first quarter of 2024, as exports were down by 16% and imports by 11%. “In the third quarter, imports were unchanged and there was a slight uptrend in exports. The positive trend was even more noticeable in the fourth quarter, with exports increasing by 6% and imports by 7%,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, in April, exports of goods increased by 54% and imports by 51% year on year. The trade growth was influenced by last year’s low reference base as well as by the increase in exports and imports of mineral products, electrical equipment and transport equipment.

In September, Kaie Koskaru-Nelk, former Deputy Secretary General of Fiscal Policy of the Ministry of Finance, will assume office as Deputy Director General of Statistics Estonia. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 2.9 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.2 billion euros.
