  3. HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.9% in August
The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account the expenditures of tourists and is comparable to the international HICP. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that according to preliminary estimates, prices rose in all major sectors in August. “The only sector to see a decline in prices was food service and accommodation, driven by accommodation services,” Veski added. The consumer price index data for August will be

Eveli Šokman, team lead of producer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with July 2024, the producer price index was most affected by price decreases in electricity production and in the manufacture of fuel oils. “Higher prices in the manufacture of wood and wood products and in the manufacture of food products had the opposite effect on the index. Producer prices increased by 1.1% in manufacturing as a whole; prices in the manufacture of food products continued to rise and were up by 5.2% year on year,” added Šokman. Compared with June, the producer price index in July

“Compared with the first quarter of 2025, the seasonally and working-day adjusted GDP was up by 0.5%,” stated Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia. According to Müürsepp, it is too early to say how the consumer price index adjustment will affect GDP calculations. “It is highly unlikely that it will have a significant impact,” he said. What is a flash estimate of GDP? Although the official GDP figure will be released on 29 August, the information currently available can be used to assess the overall economic situation. This includes trade indicators, transport
