HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.4% in June
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in June, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 0.4% compared with May. Compared with June 2025, the HICP rose by 2%. This is a flash estimate which will be refined once more detailed data on June prices are received.
The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account the expenditures of tourists and is comparable to the international HICP.
“According to the initial estimate, the index was mainly influenced by the decrease in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as clothing and footwear – both month on month and year on year,” said Lauri Veski, the Consumer Price Statistics Service Manager at Statistics Estonia.
The consumer price index data for June will be published by Statistics Estonia on Tuesday, 7 July. June data on the harmonised index of consumer prices will be published on 16 July.
