  3. In June, the number of tourists increased by 2% year on year (corrected on 18.08.2025)
The corrections are marked in red. “In June, 214,600 foreign and 176,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia. As in June last year, we had more foreign tourists (55%) than domestic tourists (45%),” said Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia. In 2025, the number of foreign tourists has increased in most months. “Compared with June last year, there were now 5% more foreign tourists staying in accommodation establishments, but their numbers have not yet fully recovered from the pandemic slump,” the analyst noted. “There were 2% fewer domestic tourists in accommodation

Buses transported 41.6 million passengers and travelled 39 million kilometres in the first quarter. Anton Kardakov, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that the most used type of bus transport was once again urban bus lines. “In the first quarter, the number of bus passengers on urban lines increased by 6% year on year, reaching 34.2 million. 3. 1,369,995 people: Estonia's population declined
Terje Trasberg, team lead of population and education statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that 18,634 persons immigrated to Estonia and 17,260 persons emigrated in 2024. “Last year, natural increase was negative (–6,066 people), while net migration was positive (+1,374 people). As the negative natural increase deepened compared with previous years, the positive net migration could no longer compensate for it. Therefore, the population fell by almost 5,000 people last year,” she said, adding that the last time Estonia's population declined was in 2016. There were 6,100 fewer births than

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that manufacturing production in October decreased for the second month in a row. “Although the volume of industrial production was up in half of the manufacturing activities in October, the overall volume of the sector declined, mainly due to a decrease in the production of computers and electronic products (3.1%), food products (1.9%), and electrical equipment (6.8%). A slight drop was also seen in the manufacture of wood, at 0.8%,” Bunder added. “The decline in the production of computers and electronic products is primarily due to

Statistics Estonia must keep up with these developments, and we must continuously update our methodologies,” explained Urmet Lee, the Director General of Statistics Estonia. The methodological changes introduced in January concern food products and electricity. “Good cooperation with electricity providers and retail chains now allows us to calculate the consumer price index in Estonia more accurately than ever before.
