According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2012, the production of industrial enterprises decreased 0.5% compared to the same month of the previous year. The slowdown in the growth was caused by the fall in the production of electricity.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, exports from Estonia amounted to 12.1 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 13.7 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 1.6 billion euros and it increased by 126 million euros compared to 2013.

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that a smart TV is the most common Internet of Things device in Estonia, used by 57% of internet users. “The second most popular group of devices includes smart watches, wireless headsets and GPS devices, which are used by over a half (53%) of the respondents. Internet-connected home audio systems and smart speakers are also fairly common (28%),” added Saagpakk. Smart fridges and robot vacuums Internet-connected home appliances and voice-activated virtual assistants, such as Alexa or Siri, are gaining popularity – their use has grown by 35%

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012 exports of goods increased by 4% and imports by 9% compared to 2011. In 2012, the annual growth of exports and imports was slower than in the previous year when both exports and imports grew by 37%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises fell by 1.2% compared with May last year. Among the three industrial sectors, output increased by 2.1% in electricity production but decreased by 0.7% in mining and by 1.4% in manufacturing.

According to Statistics Estonia's survey on information technology, the use of artificial intelligence-based technologies has risen significantly in 2024 compared with the previous year, and cyber security has become increasingly important. 5% of enterprises used at least one AI technology in 2023, whereas in 2024, this figure has risen to 14%. Of large enterprises, 10% said they had experienced a disclosure of confidential data.

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2012, exports from Estonia amounted to 1.13 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 1.16 billion euros at current prices. In monthly basis, exports have never been as high before.
