The census continues: enumerators start their work today

The Population and Housing Census, which started at the end of last year, continues on a smaller scale in February. Throughout the month, enumerators are contacting the people who did not respond to the e-census but live at mandatory sample addresses.

Foreign trade statistics are on the brink of changes. Our goal is to start reducing the administrative burden. In order to do that, we need to first introduce some changes in our existing foreign trade questionnaire INTRASTAT (dispatches and arrivals). These changes will allow the transition to SIMSTAT, i.e. single flow collection, starting from 2025. The briefing session gives information about filling in the updated questionnaire as well as creating related IT solutions. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, life expectancy at birth was 73.9 years for males and 82.4 years for females. Life expectancy has increased for both sexes, slightly more for males. Men are expected to live disability-free for 52.8 and women for 55.6 years. Just a year ago, disability-free life expectancy for males was two years longer and for females over three years longer.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2021, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 762 million euros. Compared to August 2020, turnover increased by 9% at constant prices.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,119 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 7.1%. The year-over-year growth in average monthly gross wages and salaries was slightly slower than in the previous quarter.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first half of 2015, the biggest share of exports and imports of services was held by transportation and storage, which gave 31% of Estonia’s total services exports and 17% of total services imports.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, the average monthly gross income per employee was 1,317 euros, which is 83 euros more than in 2018. The monthly gross income increased by 6.7% year on year.
