Less than half of enterprises submitted EKOMAR in time

This year, for the first time, Statistics Estonia distributed the deadlines of the EKOMAR questionnaire over a longer period and, depending on the economic activity of the enterprise, the deadline fell in the period of 1–8 July. Out of the 8,000 enterprises that were to submit the questionnaire, 44% submitted EKOMAR in time.
The decline in industrial production continued in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with July last year. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 16.9% in mining and by 16.3% in electricity production but decreased by 7.8% in manufacturing.
In the 4th quarter, the number of job vacancies decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, there were nearly 10,600 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 4th quarter of 2017. Compared to the previous quarter, when the number of job vacancies was at its highest in recent years, in the 4th quarter, the number of job vacancies decreased 17%. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2016, the number of job vacancies increased also 17%.

According to Statistics Estonia, by flash estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 4% in the 4th quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In 2011, the annual GDP grew by 7.5% compared to the previous year.
Gender pay gap was the smallest on record

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the gross hourly earnings of female employees were 14.9% smaller than the earnings of male employees. The gender pay gap decreased by 0.7 percentage points year on year.
Statistics Estonia to start negotiations on resuming mobility analysis

According to the guidelines of the Government of the Republic, Statistics Estonia is starting negotiations with mobile network operators to resume mobility analysis that was conducted last spring. The goal of the planned mobility analysis is to help evaluate the impact of adopted measures on the movement of people, direct communication and surveillance resources in Estonian regions and assess change in the risk of infection. Statistics Estonia used the same methodology for conducting mobility analysis during the emergency situation in spring 2020.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2023, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 12% at constant prices compared with the second quarter of 2022. Considering only the domestic market, the fall in construction volume was 14%.
Number of e-commerce users increased again, enterprises start to use artificial intelligence

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the biggest increase compared to the previous year occurred in people’s use of the internet for participating in online courses. The popularity of e-commerce also grew, with 62% of the population aged 16–74 having made online purchases. Among enterprises, the use of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software continues to increase. Enterprises are also trying out AI technologies.
