Starting from today, the persons interested in working for the 2011 Population and Housing Census can register on the website of Statistics Estonia, so that they could be contacted when the job competition has been announced. Large-scale recruitment competitions will be announced in autumn.

Construction volume took a downturn in the second quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2022, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 1.4% year on year at constant prices. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the construction volume fell by 1.8%.

Briefing session on the updated Intrastat questionnaire

Foreign trade statistics are on the brink of changes. Our goal is to start reducing the administrative burden. In order to do that, we need to first introduce some changes in our existing foreign trade questionnaire INTRASTAT (dispatches and arrivals). These changes will allow the transition to SIMSTAT, i.e. single flow collection, starting from 2025. The briefing session gives information about filling in the updated questionnaire as well as creating related IT solutions. Number of people living in absolute poverty rose by two and a half times

According to Statistics Estonia, 22.5% of Estonia’s population lived at risk of poverty and 3.5% in absolute poverty in 2022. Compared with 2021, the share of people living at risk of poverty decreased by 0.3 percentage points and the share of people living in absolute poverty increased by 2.1 percentage points.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May, exports of goods increased by 47% and imports by 50% year on year. Trade growth was influenced in addition to last year’s low reference base by exports and imports of mineral fuels, electrical equipment and transport equipment.
