The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 1.0% in August 2024 compared with July and by 1.7% compared with August last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 12.5% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in two sectors: by 37.6% in electricity production and by 10.9% in manufacturing. In mining, output remained almost at the same level, as the decrease was just 0.3% year on year.

Ülo Paulus, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that in the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2024, the construction price index was primarily influenced by the 2.9% increase in employees’ wages, which accounted for 54% of the index change. “Compared with the fourth quarter of last year, labour force was 0.6% more expensive and the cost of using building machines rose by 0.3%, while the prices of building materials were down by 0.2%,” explained Paulus. Krista Vaikmets, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that wage growth slowed down in 2025. “Last year, wages and salaries did not grow as fast as in previous years, but monthly gross wages still increased in all counties. The biggest increase was registered in Valga, Põlva and Rapla counties where gross wages were up by more than 6.5% last year,” she said. In the second quarter of 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.6% year on year. The GDP at current prices was 9 billion euros.
