The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 0.1% in August 2023 compared with July and decreased by 4.4% compared with August last year.

In the last 20 years, the share of people walking to work has fallen by nearly half. There is less use of public transport, while commuting by car has risen. According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2023, the dwelling price index increased by 5% compared with the second quarter of 2022 and by 3.8% compared with the first quarter of 2023.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in July, exports of goods grew primarily due to re-exports, i.e., the re-exports of previously imported goods increased by 26%. “The re-exports of mineral products (incl. natural gas) and transport equipment rose the most,” the analyst added. The decline was mainly influenced by lower exports of mineral products, wood and articles of wood, and
