Domestic tourists outnumbered foreign tourists in accommodation establishments in November

According to Statistics Estonia, more than 222,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in November 2023, which is 1% less than in November 2022 and 11% less than in October 2023. Year on year, accommodation establishments hosted fewer foreign as well as domestic tourists.

Foreign trade statistics are on the brink of changes. Our goal is to start reducing the administrative burden. In order to do that, we need to first introduce some changes in our existing foreign trade questionnaire INTRASTAT (dispatches and arrivals). These changes will allow the transition to SIMSTAT, i.e. single flow collection, starting from 2025. According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2023, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 12% at constant prices compared with the second quarter of 2022. Considering only the domestic market, the fall in construction volume was 14%.

According to Statistics Estonia, nearly 274,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in September 2023, which is 5% more than in September last year but 36% less than in August this year. Compared with September 2022, there were more foreign as well as more domestic tourists served by accommodation establishments.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 9.5% at constant prices compared with the year before. Output declined in all three main sectors: by 33.6% in electricity production, by 7.0% manufacturing, and by 20.7% mining.
