According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 11,770 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 71.76 kroons. Compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 5.9% lower and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 5.8% lower. The average monthly gross wages and salaries has been decreasing for three quarters running compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Buses transported 41.6 million passengers and travelled 39 million kilometres in the first quarter. Anton Kardakov, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that the most used type of bus transport was once again urban bus lines. “In the first quarter, the number of bus passengers on urban lines increased by 6% year on year, reaching 34.2 million. However, this did not fully compensate for the loss of trolleybus passengers due to the closure of the last trolleybus routes in Tallinn. The number of tram passengers decreased by about 2% compared with the same period last year, standing at 5.1

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 1.3% in the 3rd quarter of 2016 compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year. The biggest contribution to GDP growth was made in the economic activity of transportation, followed by trade and the energy sector.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2013, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 949 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 5.73 euros. Compared to 2012, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 7.0% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries increased 7.3%.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the turnover volume of retail trade enterprises, which declined in August , returned to growth in September. “The increase in retail trade volume was mainly driven by enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and also by stores selling manufactured goods. The turnover volume of grocery stores, however, continued to decline in September, falling by 5% compared with September 2024,” Pihlak explained. The volume of turnover in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel rose by 22% in September

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, month on month, the overall rise in prices has been slowed down mainly by food products as their prices have fallen for two months in a row. In October, food products were 1.2% cheaper than in September. The biggest impact came from the fall in the prices of bread and bakery products (4.8%)

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2016, 86% of households in Estonia had Internet access at home. There has been an increase in the share of people having used e-commerce services more than five times in the last three months.
