According to Statistics Estonia, the employment of 50–74 year olds keeps growing. The number of employed people of that age group is the highest in 10 years.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of accommodated tourists was still 5% lower than in October of 2019, the pre-pandemic record year. Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while turnover volume in June increased by 5% year on year, growth slowed down to 1% in July. “Year on year, turnover volume grew by 10% in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by 3% in stores selling manufactured goods. The turnover volume of grocery stores continued to decline in July, falling by 5% compared with July 2024,” Pihlak added. According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 6.5% and the employment rate was 65.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the second quarters of the previous years, the number of long-term unemployed persons fell under 20,000 for the first time after the recession.

Swen Peterson, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that herbicides are still the most sold type of plant protection products. “In 2024, sales of herbicides totalled 597 tonnes, which is over 80 tonnes more than in 2023. Sales of insecticides increased by a fourth, while sales of fungicides decreased by a tenth compared with 2023,” explained Peterson. Herbicides accounted for 76%, fungicides for 13%, growth regulators for 9% and insecticides for 1.6% of the total amount of pesticides sold.
