Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the turnover volume of enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel grew by 15% year on year, despite the sharp increase in fuel prices. “One of the reasons was the uncertainty felt by consumers – fearing future price hikes, people started to stock up on fuel,” noted Pihlak. According to Statistics Estonia, there were about 11,000 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 3rd quarter of 2016. The number of job vacancies reached a 7-year high, having increased by 16% compared to the previous quarter and by 25% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2015.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the biggest increase compared to the previous year occurred in people’s use of the internet for participating in online courses. The popularity of e-commerce also grew, with 62% of the population aged 16–74 having made online purchases. Among enterprises, the use of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software continues to increase. Enterprises are also trying out AI technologies.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, life expectancy at birth was 78.1 years in Estonia. Male life expectancy was 73.6 years and female life expectancy was 82.3 years. Men live disability-free for 57.9 years and women for 60.6 years.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 compared to the previous year, the electricity production from renewable sources has increased by 13%. During the last five years the share of electricity generated from oil shale has decreased by nearly a tenth. At the same time the electricity production from renewable sources has increased eight times.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, life expectancy at birth was 79 years in Estonia. This is the highest result ever and puts Estonia ahead of the other Baltic countries. At the same time, there was a slight decrease in healthy life years.

According to Statistics Estonia, 34 full-length films were produced in Estonia in 2018, of which 22 were distributed in cinemas in the same year. Cinema attendance set a new record – 3.6 million visits, i.e. 275 visits per 100 inhabitants.
