Trade in goods decreased in June as well as in the first six months overall

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods decreased by 14% and imports by 11% compared with June 2023. Exports of goods amounted to nearly 1.4 billion and imports to more than 1.6 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 268 million euros, which is 20 million more than in June last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2023, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 5% at constant prices compared with the third quarter of 2022. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2022, the population of Estonia was 1,328,439, which is 1,629 persons less than at the same time a year ago. In 2021, there were 13,138 births and 18,445 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 12,280 persons immigrated to Estonia and 8,602 persons emigrated from Estonia.

In September, production decreased significantly in the electronics industry

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 12.5% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in two sectors: by 37.6% in electricity production and by 10.9% in manufacturing. In mining, output remained almost at the same level, as the decrease was just 0.3% year on year.

According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 3.2% at constant prices in the first quarter of 2023 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. The GDP at current prices amounted to 8.7 billion euros.
