According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2020, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad was 3 billion euros. The construction volume decreased by 6% year on year. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the decrease in construction volume was 3%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, the labour force participation rate was 71.6%, the employment rate was 66.7%, and the unemployment rate was 6.8%. There were 47,900 unemployed persons, which is 16,600 more than in 2019.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2020, the Estonian general government deficit was 4.8% and the gross debt level was 18% of the gross domestic product. At the end of 2020, the general government consolidated expenditures exceeded the revenues by 1.3 billion euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1.2% year on year, and the GDP at current prices was 7.3 billion euros. In 2020 as a whole, the Estonian economy shrank by 2.9%.

Data from the 2021 census show that 84% of the current population lived in Estonia ten years ago as well, the proportion of people who have arrived from abroad has risen significantly, and the overall population of immigrants is increasingly international. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2015 the total profit of the business sector was 3.0 billion euros, which was 8% less than the year before. The increase in the business sector’s total profit turned to decline after five years of growth.
