The large-scale relationship survey* conducted by Statistics Estonia reveals that 41% of women in Estonia have experienced intimate partner violence during their lifetime.

In 2017, the social protection field was mostly characterised by growth trends: the average old-age pension exceeded 400 euros, labour market measures are being used more and there is a greater variety of them, the expenditure on family allowances increased and new allowances for large families were added. The number of old-age pensioners and subsistence benefit recipients has declined.

According to Statistics Estonia, exports of goods in 2023 decreased by 16% and imports by 17% compared with the year before. Jane Leppmets, analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that, compared with 2024, exports of services to European Union countries increased by 4% in the first quarter of this year, while imports from these countries grew by 8%. Exports of services to non-EU countries rose by 6% and imports from these countries increased by 18%. “The latter was mainly due to higher imports of services from Cyprus, the United Kingdom, and the United States. According to Statistics Estonia, in October, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.5 billion and imports to 1.8 billion euros. Compared with October 2022, exports of goods decreased by 21% and imports by 17% at current prices. The trade deficit in October was 307 million euros, which is 24 million euros more than a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2020, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 585 million euros. Compared to January 2019, turnover increased by 3% at constant prices.
