Last year, the quantity of commercial fish sold by fish farming enterprises increased by 45 tonnes compared with 2023. The quantity of farmed fish was in decline in the years 2019–2022 but has been rising again in the last two years. Anton Kardakov, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the increase in food prices has now reached the fish farming sector. “The average price per kilogram of farmed fish was up by 30% and exceeded 8 euros,” noted Kardakov. Rainbow trout is still the most farmed and sold fish species in Estonia. The sold quantity of rainbow trout has increased steadily

  3. Industrial production down by 1.1% in October
Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that manufacturing production in October decreased for the second month in a row. “Although the volume of industrial production was up in half of the manufacturing activities in October, the overall volume of the sector declined, mainly due to a decrease in the production of computers and electronic products (3.1%), food products (1.9%), and electrical equipment (6.8%). A slight drop was also seen in the manufacture of wood, at 0.8%,” Bunder added. “The decline in the production of computers and electronic products is primarily due to

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that preliminary data from the harmonised index of consumer prices indicate that prices have risen across almost all categories of goods and services compared with March 2024. “Clothing and footwear are again the only exception, as their prices were down by 3.6%,” noted Veski. The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account tourists and is comparable to the international HICP. 3. Producer price index of industrial output down by 0.5% in December
Eveli Šokman, the producer price statistics service manager at Statistics Estonia, said that, year on year, the producer price index declined in December after three months of trending upwards. “Compared with December 2024, the index was affected the most by falling prices in the manufacture of fuel oils and in electricity and heat energy production. Higher prices in the manufacture of wood and wood products, peat production, and the manufacture of food products had the opposite effect on the index,” added Šokman. In manufacturing as a whole, the index was unchanged year on year. In the
