According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2024, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 2%, while imports were unchanged from the same period last year. Sales of services to non-residents totalled €2.8 billion and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to €2.2 billion at current prices. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by €595 million, which is €45 million more than a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served nearly 236,000 tourists, which is 300% more than in April last year. The numbers of domestic tourists and foreign tourists* both increased.

The total number of vacant and occupied posts in the fourth quarter was a little under 599,000. “The number of vacant posts was the highest in public administration and defence and compulsory social security (1,277). Märt Umbleja, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the last time the dwelling price index fell compared with the previous quarter was in the third quarter of 2023. “Compared with the second quarter of 2024, the prices of apartments decreased by 1% in areas bordering Tallinn and in Tartu and Pärnu cities, and by 7.7% in the rest of Estonia. In Tallinn, apartment prices continued to rise, increasing by 0.9% from the previous quarter,” Umbleja noted.
