According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2020, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,433 euros, which is 1% higher than last year. While in county comparison, both increase and decrease in wages could be observed, the year-on-year growth has not been as modest in ten years.

The number of job vacancies did not change compared to the previous quarter but decreased by 6% compared to the 1st quarter of 2017. The number of job vacancies has exceeded 10,000 in the past five quarters.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2019, there were 11,892 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number of job vacancies has remained above 10,000 since the 1st quarter of 2017.

The enumerators will visit people in the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year only during the period 16.02 – 31.03.2012 and present their employment certificate with a photo issued by Statistics Estonia. Today, 1 September, marks the beginning of the 2020 Agricultural Census in Estonia. The census, which is organised every ten years, lasts until 15 November. Statistics Estonia expects around 11,600 agricultural holdings to participate in the census.

In 2017, there were approximately 158,000 economically active units. 3,000 units were added, which is as many as in 2016. Considering legal form, the picture looks different – growth in the number of companies picked up and the number of non-profit associations decreased for the first time.
