According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2021, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 79% while imports of services fell by 23% year on year. In 2021 as a whole, exports of services grew by 47% and imports by 28% compared to 2020.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.6 billion and imports to 1.9 billion euros. Compared with June 2022, exports of goods decreased by 14% and imports by 13% at current prices. The trade deficit in June was 271 million euros, which is 33 million euros less than in the same month last year.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the second quarter of 2023, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 8% and imports by 2% at current prices compared with the same quarter of 2022. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 2.9 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.2 billion euros.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with October 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, and phone services. “Among food products, the higher prices of non-alcoholic beverages (+20.4%), fruits (+12.4%) and vegetables (+5.5%) drove up the index the most compared with October last year. Sugar was 23.3% and fish and fish preparations 4.6% cheaper,” added Veski. In October, petrol was 11.3% and diesel fuel 12.9% cheaper than in October 2023. Electricity

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 5% and imports by 1% compared with July 2023. Exports of goods amounted to over €1.3 billion and imports to nearly €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €321 million, which is €59 million less than in July last year.

In the first quarter of 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.3% year on year. The GDP at current prices was 8 billion euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2017, compared to 2016, the number of international traffic passengers served by Estonian ports increased by 3%, the number of national traffic passengers increased by 7% and the freight volume of ports in tonnes increased by 3%.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with September 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, motor fuel and oils, and miscellaneous goods and services. “Among food products, the biggest increases compared with September last year occurred in the prices of juices and syrups, which rose by 57.1%, and the prices of olive oil, which increased by 56.3%. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2023, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.5 billion and imports to 1.7 billion euros. Compared with November 2022, exports of goods decreased by 12% and imports by 19% at current prices. The trade deficit in November was 200 million euros, which is 198 million euros less than a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2016, the number of passengers served by Estonian transport enterprises decreased by 3% and the freight volume in tonnes decreased by 1% compared to the previous year. The number of passengers increased in sea and rail transport, but decreased in road and air transport. Carriage of goods increased in road transport, but decreased in rail transport.
