Statistics Estonia finished the last Pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census, where during 11 days the conduct of the whole Census was tested. Over 300 employees of Statistics Estonia and volunteers participated in the test.

On Monday, 27th of July, Walter Radermacher, Director General of the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), is on a one-day visit to Statistics Estonia.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, the total amount of commercial fish and crayfish sold by aquaculture enterprises was 795 tonnes, with a total value of 3.3 million euros. Compared to 2014, the amount of fish and crayfish production sold has decreased 8% and the monetary value of production – 3%.

At the beginning of September, foreign experts will visit Statistics Estonia to evaluate compliance with the quality requirements of the European Union statistical office Eurostat and the European Statistics Code of Practice.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.5 billion and imports to 1.8 billion euros. Compared with the same month in 2022, exports of goods decreased by 22% and imports by 19% at current prices. The trade deficit in in August was 293 million euros, which is 7 million euros less than a year earlier.

“In the first half of 2025, foreign trade in goods increased by 9%. Exports of goods amounted to nearly €9.3 billion and imports to almost €11.1 billion at current prices,” said Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia. “The main commodities exported in the first half of the year were electrical equipment, agricultural products and food preparations, and wood and articles of wood. According to the first estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 5.0% in the 3rd quarter of 2010 compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2023, exports and imports of goods at current prices decreased by 9% and 1% respectively, compared with the same month in 2022.
