240,700 foreign and 218,500 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in August. Foreign tourists accounted for a slightly bigger share (52%) than domestic tourists (48%). Johanna Linda Pihlak, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that retail trade volume, which had grown by 7% in March year on year, did not grow as fast in April. “In April, the increase in the volume of retail trade turnover was influenced by enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by stores selling manufactured goods,” added Pihlak. Since 2014, 73,400 foreign citizens have become e-residents of Estonia. 20% of these e-residents have participated in founding a business and over 14,200 businesses have been registered in Estonia with their participation.
