Year 2009 was Museum Year in Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in spite of the economic recession, the attendance of museums increased by 8% in 2009 compared to the previous year, amounting to over 2.2 million.

Eurostat published the report of the Peer Review of the Estonian statistical system. In the report, the Estonian Statistical System was concluded to be of high quality. However, the Peer Review team also identified areas where improvements should be made.

In the older age group, due to the withdrawal of one of the teams, team Numbritaat from Viljandi Gymnasium and team Merkintä from Narva Pähklimäe Gymnasium moved directly to the European phase of the competition.

In the 1st half of 2010 the general government sector deficit was 4.2 billion kroons and gross debt level was 15 billion kroons.

According to the flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 0.6% in the 2nd quarter of 2016 compared to the 2nd quarter of the 2015.
