In the coming months, the population census continues with the collection and analysis of register data. The first dataset on population composition will be published at the beginning of June.
According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2020, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 671 million euros. Compared to June 2019, turnover increased by 7% at constant prices.
Today, on 12 November, at the conference of the Estonian Statistical Society, the Director General of Statistics Estonia Mr Andres Oopkaup presented Ms Cliona Georgia Dalberg with the Albert Pullerits young statistician’s grant.
According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the population of Estonia on 1 January 2023 was 1,357,739, an increase by 2% (or 25,943 people) compared with a year earlier. Ene-Margit Tiit, an expert in population statistics, took a closer look at how many ethnic Estonians live here and how many Estonians there are in the world.
In the second quarter of 2022, Estonian residents travelled much more than in the second quarter of last year: the number of domestic trips grew by 45% and the number of outbound trips by 319%, that is, over three times.
On 13–15 March in Brussels, the Estonian team won the 3rd prize, after Croatia and France, in the "European Big Data Hackathon", organised by the European Commission statistical office Eurostat.
According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2020, the labour force participation rate in Estonia was 71.7%, the employment rate was 68.1%, and the unemployment rate was 5%. These indicators do not yet reflect the negative impact of the emergency situation on the Estonian labour market.
According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2021, the population of Estonia was 1,330,068, which is 1,179 persons more than the year before*. Last year, the population figure decreased by 2,602 persons due to negative natural increase but increased by 3,782 persons as a result of positive net migration.
According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2021, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 11% year on year. Production increased in all three main industrial sectors: by 19% in mining, by 14% in energy production and by 10% in manufacturing.
