According to Statistics Estonia, 2.3% of the population of Estonia lived in absolute poverty and 20.7% lived at risk of poverty in 2019. Compared to 2018, the share of people at risk of poverty fell by one percentage point. The share of people living in absolute poverty rose by 0.1 percentage point.

According to Statistics Estonia*, 93.2% of households in Estonia have an internet connection at home. The number of households with an internet connection has increased by 13,000 compared with the previous year, when there were 533,300 such households. There are also more users of e-commerce.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, power plants produced 5,516 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity, which is three quarters of last year’s production. The volume of electricity produced from oil shale decreased by a half.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2021, Estonian accommodation establishments served 381,000 tourists, which is a tenth more than in the same month last year. The number of domestic tourists increased compared to both July 2020 and July 2019, while the number of foreign tourists remained significantly smaller than in previous years.

According to the preliminary data of the Agricultural Census conducted by Statistics Estonia, there are 11,400 agricultural holdings in Estonia, which is 3,800 fewer than ten years ago. 84% of the agricultural output is contributed by 1,300 largest producers who use more than two thirds of the utilised agricultural area and account for more than a half of agricultural labour.

Statistics Estonia carried out the survey of Intrastat data providers in October 2014 to measure the administrative burden caused by Intrastat and the satisfaction of data providers. The obtained data and collected feedback will be used in the development and simplification of the Intrastat report. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, there were 82,500 amateurs of folk culture in Estonia. 59,000 of them sang in choirs or danced in folk dance groups. The most folk culture amateurs per thousand inhabitants were in Võru county and the least in Ida-Viru county.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 6% at constant prices compared with 2022. Considering only the domestic market, the fall in construction volume was 7%.
