According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, in 2012 the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 3.2% compared to the previous year. In the 4th quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter of 2011, the GDP grew by 3.7%.

According to Statistics Estonia, 337,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in June 2023, the same as in June last year. The number of foreign tourists increased, while the number of domestic tourists decreased.

Exports of goods amounted to over €1.4 billion and imports to nearly €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €264 million, which is €63 million higher than in August last year. Allan Aron, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the last time exports of goods declined year on year was in August 2024. “The decrease in exports in August 2025 was mostly influenced by a fall in exports to countries outside the European Union. According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2019, domestic and foreign tourists who stayed in accommodation establishments numbered 219,000, which is 4% more than in February 2018. The number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased.

Since March this year, the retail sales growth remained within 6 to 9% compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, Estonian accommodation establishments served over two million tourists, which is 8% more than in 2020, but 44% less than in 2019. The number of domestic tourists increased, while the number of foreign tourists decreased.
