Forest accounts is a statistical framework that treats forests both as a natural resource and as an economic asset from a macroeconomic perspective. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2017, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,221 euros; compared to 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 6.5%. The annual average monthly gross wages and salaries increased in almost all economic activities. The average monthly gross wages and salaries were the highest in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were more than 8,100 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2nd quarter of 2012 – this is 29% more than in the same period last year. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the number of job vacancies has been increasing since the 2nd quarter of 2010, after the decline in 2008 and 2009.

The government approved the development plan of Statistics Estonia for 2018–2022 at its cabinet meeting today. The greatest change in the new strategy period is transforming Statistics Estonia into a national data agency – an office that offers data from different sources, support when using data as well as classic official statistics.
